Remembering a century on.

2016 marked the 100 year anniversary since the Battle of The Somme. It was a low point of the war with massive loss of life. By the end of the first day on 1 July 1916, the British Army had captured just three square miles, suffering 57,470 casualties, including 19,240 fatalities. This adds up to one man was killed every 4.4 seconds.

To mark the centenary of the battle we created a hard hitting campaign that applied these statistics to outdoor and digital media. spaces to get people to understand the impact the battle had and the human cost involved.

The social impact

To create understanding about the impact The Somme had on the friends and family who were left behind, we created a social campaign that gave people a perspective on what it must have been like to lose the ones close to you.
